Crochet Pillow Cover – Crochet for a Cure

Spring brings new life and with it fresh possibilities. I think that’s what the Kayla crochet pillow cover embraces!

This past month has been an emotional roller coaster for us because both our moms passed away from Alzheimer’s. While my mom was in palliative care, delving into learning Tunisian crochet helped focus my sadness into positive energy. Working away on the design of the Kayla pillow, I would sit by mom and crochet while keeping her company.

Kayla Pillow – Crochet for a Cure

Mom taught me how to crochet when I was six. She instilled in me a love of everything DIY and craft. So it’s come full circle: we’re donating 100% of all pattern sales to benefit Alzheimers in memory of our moms!

Watch this brief intro to see what our passion project is all about:

Gnome DIY (with Light Up Hat)!

Every time I see the Travelocity Gnome on the Amazing Race, I tell myself ‘I have to get around to making a gnome’! I had so much fun with this gnome DIY, I really don’t know what took me so long to make one! But I’m glad I did wait, because the gnome kit I received from Kim and Garrett Make It, combined with the Christmas Sweater stencil from Old Sign Stencils, is so worth the wait :). With a gnome kit and stencil in hand, this is an easy diy gnome – no sewing required!  Continue reading

Wooden Shelf Display – Add Legs to a Floating Shelf!

This wooden shelf display is a bit counterintuitive. Today I’m taking a floating wall shelf and repurposing it into a display platform base for our Hot Chocolate Station by adding legs. This is the second project in our 3 part series. I can’t wait for the final reveal!  Continue reading

Hot Chocolate Station – Hot Cocoa Tray

We may have a small kitchen, but that doesn’t mean we can’t squeeze in a hot chocolate station! So we’re on a mission to make a scaled-down version of a hot chocolate station, complete with the hot cocoa tray we’re about to show you! There’s nothing more comforting than a hot cup of cocoa on a cold blustery day! Continue reading

Tiered Plant Stand DIY (Indoor/Outdoor Raised Planter)

I wanted poinsettias for the winter season, and boy did I get them with this tiered plant stand DIY! Stencilled in a really cool houndstooth pattern, our planter table makes a beautiful indoor plant stand for multiple plants!

However, this raised planter can also go outdoors in the Spring! If you do use it outside, it would be best to keep this in a covered area unless you use a clear coat rated for outdoor use. An added bonus is that the whole thing rolls since it’s already on wheels!

Outdoor Garden Decor – Stencil Art

Outdoor garden decor is the focus of our very first stencil project using Cutting Edge Stencils! Typically the kind of stencil we’re using would go on a wall. But we’re not typical.  I can’t wait for you to see our unique idea to turn a wall stencil into stencil art for the garden! But if you read to the very end, we have a giveaway so you can try it out stencilling tooContinue reading

Adirondack Chair Head Pillow – DIY Neck Pillow!

Aside from spending more time with Hubs, this Adirondack chair head pillow is probably the best thing to come out of the stay at home order this year. Hubs hasn’t worked since March so I want him to take advantage of the opportunity to take it easy for change. If anyone deserves some rest and relaxation it’s him. But I bet you do too and I’ll show you how! Continue reading

Air Plant Holder DIY – Window Display

This air plant holder DIY is a solution to a very real problem if you like to grow plants but have limited space.

So how do you display air plants when space is an issue? Air plants don’t need just air, they also need a source of bright indirect sunlight too. That means they have to be within 3 feet of a window at most.  But that’s easier said than done in our house. You see, our house sits on a ‘zero lot line’. One side of our house has no windows at all, and the windows we DO have, don’t have enough floor space surrounding them to grow plants. Continue reading
