Faux Barnboard – Perfected Milk Paint Technique

Today’s post is all about a technique we developed to get a really interesting faux barnyard look for a fraction of the cost. It took us two tries until we were satisfied with the outcome; this post documents our perfected version. We created faux barnboard for our phone booth planter and shelf (shown at the end), but you could use it in any project where you want that rustic touch! Continue reading

Steering Wheel Cover DIY- How I Crushed Hubs’ Car

This steering wheel cover DIY is inspired by a true life story: the day I intentionally crush my husband’s car. If you’re wondering how I came to upcycle a steering wheel and mount it on my wall, it all started with a simple question ‘What’s on your bucket list?’ That’s how this whole story began.

But first, a warm welcome to the Creative Craft Blog Hop. If you are coming over from my friend Mary at Home is Where the Boat Is, I’m thrilled to have you join us! At the bottom of this post, I’ll be directing you to the next stop on this venture. But don’t forget to check out the other stops too. There’s a fine group of 14 other bloggers with inspiring craft ideas: be sure to drop back in throughout the week to visit them all!

And since Easter is less than a week away, I’m squeezing in one more crocheted project with this sleeping crochet Easter bunny pattern! This one is tiny so it’s quick. Continue reading

Menorah DIY – Reusable Oil Burning Wicks

This menorah DIY is the second part or our shot glass upcycle. If you’re anything like me, you love the look of a real flame! A few years ago I discovered the beauty of oil burning candles. I previously posted a project on this shot glasses diy for oil burning candles but we’ve since taken oil burning wicks to the next level!

Up until now, oil candle wick options haven’t been overly sustainable. Sure it’s convenient to buy floating wicks, but you end up throwing away the metal tabs or cork disk. Continue reading

This needle felted elf will make a cute addition to your Christmas decor!

I recently took a course on needle felting featuring needle felted elves. Needle felting is something I’ve alway wanted to learn! If you think our instructions have a lot of detail, you should see all the behind the scenes work that goes into perfecting each step! That’s so we can be assured you’ll get the same outcome if you try one of our projects yourself 😉.

Free Crochet Frog Pattern – Gabriola Frog

This free crochet frog pattern came about one night while watching The Orville.  I couldn’t help but notice the Frog leaned up against the desk light on captain Ed Mercer’s desk because he always steals the scene! I love Kermit the Frog so the next day I was inspired to make Kermit’s counterpart to adorn wherever I choose to place her.

Only problem was, I couldn’t find a free frog pattern I liked so I had to make my own. You know what they say about necessity being the mother of invention, don’t you?  If you love frogs as much as I do, you’ll be thrilled to get your free crochet frog pattern for Gabriola at the end of this post.
