Our Christmas card holder display is unique! It multi-tasks as a Christmas card holder a place card holder or a picture holder. It makes a great Christmas gift! And unbelievably, it all starts with mini rolling pins* at from the dollar store! A quick call to the store and they were able to order us in an entire box of them!
Cut
Slice off a bit of the rounded part to flatten it so it will sit on a table without rolling away!
Then cut a slot in the opposite end to hold a photo or card – at an angle – so it can be easily seen. Hubs used a table saw with a jig to cut these. Unfortunately I didn’t get pictures because we were each busy with our own projects.
Then seal the wood with clear varnish.
Milk Paint
Spice is a colour that reminds me of harvest at Thanskgiving but is ideal all year round! We chose milk paint for the handles (which also gets sealed with a topcoat). This is the assembly line of handles Hubs milk painted in the garage:
Reassemble Your Christmas Card Holder Display
Once the handles are dry, reassembled them with the body of the rolling pin.
My assembly line 🙂
They’re perfect to display a Christmas card, as shown below.

Christmas Card Holder Display!
We don’t have a fireplace mantel (yet), but they’re great in multiples to display Christmas cards for the holidays!
However, they’re also right at home in the kitchen. How cute would they be displayed the kitchen on a window ledge with a special Christmas card or a photo of the family?
Place Card Holders
I originally designed these mini rolling pin holders to use at our wedding. Now we can use them as place settings at dinner parties. For each place setting, I made these ‘recipe cards’ with vintage blenders around the border. They can easily be printed four per page on card stock with a home computer, then cut.
At our wedding, all our rolling pins were set up on a hoosier table in the hallway to greet guests as they arrived.

These are so cute! I was just thinking how great they’d be to stand up a recipe card in, or use at a bridal shower favor, too!
Thanks so much! I think they would make an awesome bridal shower favour; didn’t think about that! Standing up a recipe card would be great for those that still use them. I think they are pretty old school now. I might have to find a way to convert a larger rolling pin to hold an iPad – lol!
Very cute! Pin it my holiday boards.
Thanks so much Maria; appreciate the share!
