A crochet Easter bunny is just the thing to welcome Spring. But even though it’s officially Spring, our weather here is still cold and blustery. Until the weather warms up, I’m keeping my hands and mind busy indoors by reacquainting myself with crochet. And since Easter is less than a week away, I’m squeezing in one more crocheted project with this sleeping crochet Easter bunny pattern! This one is tiny so it’s quick. Continue reading

Mobile Card Catalogue: Add Wheels!
Do you remember the freedom you felt when you first got behind the wheel of a car? I felt the same way when we added wheels onto my favourite storage piece. Now it’s a mobile card catalogue!
Once my craft room was filled up with stuff, I knew I wouldn’t have a single blank wall to photograph projects against. The card catalogue is way too heavy to move but attaching wheels gives me options I wouldn’t otherwise have. Continue reading

Menorah DIY – Reusable Oil Burning Wicks
This menorah DIY is the second part or our shot glass upcycle. If you’re anything like me, you love the look of a real flame! A few years ago I discovered the beauty of oil burning candles. I previously posted a project on this shot glasses diy for oil burning candles but we’ve since taken oil burning wicks to the next level!
Up until now, oil candle wick options haven’t been overly sustainable. Sure it’s convenient to buy floating wicks, but you end up throwing away the metal tabs or cork disk. Continue reading

Needle Felted Elf: A Coastal Christmas
This needle felted elf will make a cute addition to your Christmas decor!
I recently took a course on needle felting featuring needle felted elves. Needle felting is something I’ve alway wanted to learn! When I discovered that I could get wool roving online, I was excited to practice what I had learned and design my own project. Amazon has a great selection of colours of wool roving and tools by Clover. Continue reading

Engineered Hardwood Floor: Basement Installation
If you are considering installing real hardwood in a basement, an engineered hardwood floor should be your only consideration – in conjunction with a dimpled membrane! The membrane will help protect the floor from vapour migration coming up from the concrete slab. It will also protect from minor leaks – as we found out when one of our pipes burst a year after this install! Continue reading

Wood Burning with Ammonium Chloride (A Guide)
Today we’re focussing in on our process by testing out wood burning with ammonium chloride. It’s a great opportunity to take you through the trials and tribulations of a potential project in the making!
Hubs and I do a lot of hands on research before we even ‘start’ a project and wood burning with ammonium chloride is no exception. If you think our instructions have a lot of detail, you should see all the behind the scenes work that goes into perfecting each step! That’s so we can be assured you’ll get the same outcome if you try one of our projects yourself 😉.

Pipe Table
A pipe table is an ideal project when you need a side table but have a challenging space to fill. Such was the case with Hubs’ mancave. When I was laying out our basement design, I have to admit that I took most of the square footage for my craft studio! That left Hubs with little space on either side of his La-Z-boy! And you know all too well, he’s gonna need somewhere to put his snacks! Continue reading

Free Crochet Frog Pattern – Gabriola Frog
This free crochet frog pattern came about one night while watching The Orville. I couldn’t help but notice the Frog leaned up against the desk light on captain Ed Mercer’s desk because he always steals the scene! I love Kermit the Frog so the next day I was inspired to make Kermit’s counterpart to adorn wherever I choose to place her.
Only problem was, I couldn’t find a free frog pattern I liked so I had to make my own. You know what they say about necessity being the mother of invention, don’t you? If you love frogs as much as I do, you’ll be thrilled to get your free crochet frog pattern for Gabriola at the end of this post. Continue reading

One-Piece Toilet Install: New Accessible Bathroom
The only thing we were able to salvage from Mom’s old powder room for her new accessible bathroom was the one-piece toilet. For the longest time it sat in the dining room. Not the most appetizing sight but that’s about to change! Continue reading

How to Clean Tile Grout: Steam Clean It!
How to clean tile grout was always an issue with our white tile and light grout. Until we found an easy solution! Continue reading
