Come take the chill off, sit down by the fire and read a few random picks from the ne(s)t of my faves this week. We’re cozying down this weekend and avoiding sub-zero temps. What about you? Are you celebrating Valentine’s Day tomorrow? Hubs and I postpone the celebration to exactly one week later because that’s the day we met – so that is our true Valentine’s Day! Continue reading

Today we’re working on a bedside table DIY by making over two retro two-tier end tables! Because these retro tables are narrow, they’re perfect when you don’t have a lot of room either side of the bed. Continue reading

So of course, the perfect tie in for our last 2020 project of the year is upcycling this vintage egg beater! As you’ll see, it makes a quick, simple and unique air plant display. Continue reading

Wooden Planter Box DIY – Christmas Centrepiece
I love unexpected garage sale finds like this tea caddy! Although it’s meant to be a tea bag holder, I saw the potential to upcycle it from a tea storage box into a planter for the holiday season. It could be used as a centrepiece on a table or for decor on a coffee table or side table. Our wooden planter box DIY is going to look stunning with the addition of poinsettias, but choose any seasonal flower to use this in the Spring, Summer and Fall too!
Refinish a Coffee Table – Sewing Table Repurpose
This is the second time in a month I get to refinish a coffee table! Years ago on a trip to the States, Hubs and I picked up a cute little coffee table that was originally a vintage sewing table. We’ve done several vintage sewing machine table makeovers now and they always get me thinking creatively. Surprisingly, we’ve never come across such a short base before! Continue reading
Hot Cocoa Bar Sign – Light it Up!
We’re ready for the reveal of our hot chocolate station with this final project – the Hot Cocoa Bar Sign! There’s nothing better in the dead of winter than a hot cup of cocoa! Continue reading
Wooden Shelf Display – Add Legs to a Floating Shelf!
This wooden shelf display is a bit counterintuitive. Today I’m taking a floating wall shelf and repurposing it into a display platform base for our Hot Chocolate Station by adding legs. This is the second project in our 3 part series. I can’t wait for the final reveal! Continue reading
Hot Chocolate Station – Hot Cocoa Tray
We may have a small kitchen, but that doesn’t mean we can’t squeeze in a hot chocolate station! So we’re on a mission to make a scaled-down version of a hot chocolate station, complete with the hot cocoa tray we’re about to show you! There’s nothing more comforting than a hot cup of cocoa on a cold blustery day! Continue reading
Tiered Plant Stand DIY (Indoor/Outdoor Raised Planter)
I wanted poinsettias for the winter season, and boy did I get them with this tiered plant stand DIY! Stencilled in a really cool houndstooth pattern, our planter table makes a beautiful indoor plant stand for multiple plants!
However, this raised planter can also go outdoors in the Spring! If you do use it outside, it would be best to keep this in a covered area unless you use a clear coat rated for outdoor use. An added bonus is that the whole thing rolls since it’s already on wheels!
Poinsettia Christmas Decor – From an Old Wine Box!

Christmas Sleigh Decor – Point Blanket Inspired!
Some people dream of a white Christmas. That’s usually not a problem in Canada! However, I prefer a colourful one, Canadian style, with Christmas sleigh decor done up in Hudson’s Bay Point Blanket Stripes! Continue reading
Christmas Stocking DIY – Crochet I-cord
We have a twist on a Christmas stocking DIY using vintage stocking stretchers! It’s not the type of Christmas stocking that you can stuff goodies into – although you could very well adapt it that way! This Christmas stocking DIY is purely for home decor. Continue reading
Coffee Table Makeover – with Upcycled Flooring Top!
Our coffee table makeover starts with a base we found on garbage day. Unfortunately it’s missing the top and Hubs and I didn’t see eye to eye on how we should upcycle it. So he’s going to indulge my idea now and maybe I’ll indulge his idea one day ;).
The top comes courtesy of leftover scraps of wood flooring we kept after finishing our basement. You can read all about our engineered hardware flooring installation here if you’re curious to see where these scraps came from.
Luxury Vinyl Flooring Innovation – True North LVMax
Our luxury vinyl flooring install was a long time coming. You might even say long overdue. Our basement flooded and we lost our beautiful engineered hardwood floor. Collateral damage of course was my craft studio, Hubs’ man cave and our laundry room. Despite doing all the right things, and even recovering from a previous flood, we knew we were taking a risk by installing real wood. After the incident, our dimpled membrane did not save us a second time. But that’s now water under the bridge (or I guess under the floor!).
Now with the flooring out, we’re down to bare concrete again. Continue reading
Milk Can Decor – How to Stencil an Uneven Surface
Milk can decor has always been on my bucket list of things to upcycle. Thanks to this find at the Salvation Army Thrift Store, I’m finally able to scratch it off my list! It’ll make a beautiful fall decor display. Continue reading
