How to Fix a Broken Chair Leg

How to fix a broken chair leg is a topic that just might put us out of the upcycling ‘business’. After all, if everyone knew how easy it is to do, they’d never toss their broken chairs to the curb. And then we’d have nothing to blog about. Despite that, we’ll take our chances!

You may have a broken chair leg in your home right now. So before you toss it, today we’re showing you just how easy it is to fix. We’ll give you all our tips and tricks! Continue reading

Office Chair DIY – Reupholster a Bentwood Swivel

This Office Chair DIY seemed to find me. Since I have plenty of leftover fabrics from other projects, that’s not a bad thing. I love to reupholster! Even so, for this project I’m taking a bit of a shortcut.

Thanks to everyone who entered our giveaway last month. Congratulations goes out to J. Kynerd. She is the winner of a Cutting Edge Stencil. I enjoyed bringing you our first giveaway and hope to have another one for you down the road!

Outdoor Garden Decor – Stencil Art

Outdoor garden decor is the focus of our very first stencil project using Cutting Edge Stencils! Typically the kind of stencil we’re using would go on a wall. PPG BreakThrough Paint Test

I’m testing PPG BreakThrough paint for an interesting outdoor decor project with Cutting Edge Stencils that I’ve been thinking about for a while. A few weeks ago, we found an object tossed to the curb that I thought would be great as garden decor.

It’s not often I do a ‘prequel’ to a project. Today’s post will give you a look inside the process of project development around here :). As is usually the case with our projects: (1) it’s not something I’ve ever seen done, so in typical Birdz of a Feather fashion we’re going to try before we fly! and (2) you know we’re going to be repurposing and upcycling a thing or two for the final decor project!  Continue reading

Adirondack Chair Head Pillow – DIY Neck Pillow!

Aside from spending more time with Hubs, this Adirondack chair head pillow is probably the best thing to come out of the stay at home order this year. But I bet you do too and I’ll show you how! Continue reading

Air Plant Holder DIY – Window Display

This air plant holder DIY is a solution to a very real problem if you like to grow plants but have limited space.

So how do you display air plants when space is an issue? Air plants don’t need just air, they also need a source of bright indirect sunlight too. That means they have to be within 3 feet of a window at most.  But that’s easier said than done in our house. You see, our house sits on a ‘zero lot line’. One side of our house has no windows at all, and the windows we DO have, don’t have enough floor space surrounding them to grow plants. Continue reading

Steering Wheel Cover DIY- How I Crushed Hubs’ Car

This steering wheel cover DIY is inspired by a true life story: the day I intentionally crush my husband’s car. If you’re wondering how I came to upcycle a steering wheel and mount it on my wall, it all started with a simple question ‘What’s on your bucket list?’ That’s how this whole story began.
