This is a progress report of small craft room ideas in my craft room. It’s the fourth in a series of instalments on the making of a craft studio. In my first post, I reached out to fellow bloggers and readers on Hometalk to help me decide the final layout of my craft studio. Even though it’s still far from being finished, the jury is in on the layout. Continue reading
Shoe Storage DIY – Sole Searching
I finally came up with a shoe storage DIY that works for me. But only after a lot of ‘sole searching’ (the kind of searching you do when you can’t find the pair of shoes you really want to wear, that is)! Continue reading
Where to Put Dishwasher Pods – an Easy Solution
Where to put dishwasher pods can be a challenge. I have a love/hate relationship with the packaging that’s out there for dishwasher tablets. It’s hard to get those pucks out when they’re in a ‘clamshell’. And trying to dig them out from under the sink can be a challenge in itself. Even when they come in a resealable bag! Today we have an easy dishwasher tab dispenser that solves those problems. Continue reading
Paint Chip Art – DIY Paint Chip Portrait
This paint chip art is the result of a huge collection of old paint chips and defunct paint decks that Hubs amasses as a painter. I also have a growing collection from years of renovating and flipping houses. And ‘peachy’ colours I pored over to decorate my bedroom while I was still living at home! Let’s not mention my sponge painting phase!
Curious to see what one could do to recycle paint chips, I did a Pinterest search. I came across paint chip portraits done completely with paint chips. Such a novel idea! What better way to celebrate Hubs than to turn his likeness into paint swatch art? Continue reading

I’m so excited that my craft studio is becoming a reality. Actually, it’s been a dream for over decade to build a studio in the basement. Continue reading
Creative Planter Ideas for the Garden
These creative planter ideas make the most of a tiny garden. We’re always looking for ways to squeeze just one more plant into our small outdoor space. On one of our garage sale treks I found a rusty old chair and thought it would be perfect as a planter once I painted the metal and removed the seat cushion. Continue reading
Outdoor Privacy Screen Ideas
It’s time to start thinking about outdoor privacy screen ideas for your garden! This guide will give you ideas to start building your own trellises and privacy screens. With Spring on the horizon, I find myself thinking about outdoor projects! When you live in a suburban neighbourhood, where the houses are packed in like sardines, it leaves a lot to be desired in terms of privacy.
The smaller trellises are ideal for using up scraps of wood you might already have on-hand.
Outdoor Mirror for the Garden
An outdoor mirror for the garden is an easy solution to a very real problem around here. You’ve got to use every trick in the book to make your outdoor space feel more expansive than it really is If you live in a teeny tiny house on a teeny tiny suburban lot like us. What better way to do that than with mirror? Mirror isn’t just for indoor decor; it can be a piece de resistance in the great outdoors too. Continue reading
