Who doesn’t love a good throw down? Several year ago we had the opportunity to take part in the Ontario Science Centre (OSC) Muskoka chair challenge (or Adirondack chair as our neighbours to the south call it)! The objective: to create a unique Muskoka chair that would appeal to OSC visitors during the summer months. Continue reading

Key Organizer: Vinyl Record Art
Hubs is always misplacing his car keys, which often makes us late, so it was time to consider a key organizer. We waste so much time looking for keys when we should be out the door! Continue reading
Reupholster an Office Chair
Happy New Year everyone! For my first post of 2017 I have a tutorial to show you how to reupholster an office chair. You may have seen the embarrassing state of my office (one hour project organizing the office). My office chair was no better shape. When the tear in the seat looked like it was trying to run right out of the office, I knew it was time for a makeover. I relocated it to my craft studio to give it the Cinderella treatment. Continue reading
Bathroom Makeover DIY – Maximize Bathroom Space
Today we have a bathroom makeover DIY we recently completed in my Mom’s house. As we showed you in a reclaiming and maximizing space in the bathroom, renovating a bathroom gives you the ideal opportunity to maximize bathroom space. Mom’s bathroom has never been updated in the 30 years she’s owned the house. So it was high time for a reno. For us, it’s just as important to make the sure the space is as functional as it is beautiful. Continue reading
Picture Ledge DIY – Staircase Niche Decor Gift
This picture ledge DIY idea sprung out of this year’s reno project: finishing the basement. We recently completed my craft studio and have been working on the mancave too. It’s a testament to how you can upcycle scrap pieces wood into functional decor!
Hubs surprised me with this as a gift; made especially for the stairway leading into the basement. Before starting work on the basement, the stairwell was the drop zone for our central vacuum system accessories. Continue reading
Bulkheads Canvas Art with a Printer!
Bulkheads. Whether you love them or hate them, sometimes you have no choice but to live with them. It’s where builders tend to hide electrical and mechanical runs. Most people wouldn’t think to explore this uncharted territory some of us have above our kitchen cabinets. Continue reading

Pallet DIY – Phoenix Rising Pallet Table
Our pallet DIY project was one of those things that was just meant to be. Phoenix rising is an apropos (and quite literal) way to describe the resurrection of this beautiful sewing machine table base! This upcycle is just like a phoenix rising from the ashes! Continue reading

Replace a Bathroom Fan – Blow it Out Your Roof!
There’s going to come a time when you have to replace a bathroom fan. They say nothing is certain but death and taxes, but I’d like to add a third: repairs! Repairs are inevitable. Just last week alone, three things broke down on us. When you’re a do-it-your-selfer and a blogger, you have to look on the bright side of things. It’s a good week when repairs alone give you a ton of things to write about!
I wasn’t sorry to see the old fan go. It was so loud and clunky; I could hear barely hear Hubs singing rubber ducky outside the bathroom door 🙂
Oh My Goth…. it’s Halloween at the Office!
Halloween at the office is the best compromise. Do you love Halloween too? For me, it always gets my creative juices flowing! Hubs isn’t crazy about doing big Halloween productions at home, so I get my fill of Halloween decorating at the office! Continue reading
The Making of a Craft Studio (VI): The Final Reveal!
A few weeks ago was moving day. With the help of Hub’s brothers, all the heavy equipment was brought over from my old studio. While I still have some unpacking, I can’t wait to show you the reveal and share our upcycle ideas to inspire you in your own craft space!
Here is what we started with in the basement…. Continue reading
Wall Clock DIY – Customize your Logo!
A wall clock DIY can add so much personality to your space. OK, so it’s not a far stretch to upcycle a thrift clock into a DIY clock. But when I stumbled on an Umbra clock at my local Value Village, it struck me that I didn’t yet have one when I wrote about small craft room ideas. Grab any old clock and adorn it with your own logo to make it unique! Continue reading

Cork Board Decor – Inspire-Themed Office Decor
When Hometalk announced the redecorating of its New York offices and was looking for office decor items, it was game on! The challenge put out to the community was to come up with DIY creations that would inspire. There was even an optional caveat to incorporate some element of Hometalk such as the teal colour, the word Hometalk or the logo. For that, some cork board decor is in order! Continue reading
DIY Storage Shelf – Antique Hutch Upcycle
When Hubs and I attended an auction a few years ago I spotting a piece I thought would make a great DIY storage shelf. Specifically, it was the top half to what used to be part of someone’s buffet. Continue reading
Airplane Wall Decor: Use That Wasted Bulkhead
Airplane wall decor is the solution to that wasted space above the kitchen cabinets or in the basement hiding mechanical runs. I’m talking about bulkheads (or soffits). Most people hate them. By the way, most people hate propeller puns too, but I’m a huge fan :). Today I’m showing you one way to jazz up a bulkhead with an airplane propeller!! Continue reading
