Craft Ideas for Autumn – Fall Craft DIYs

It’s always with a heavy sigh that we transition away from creating outside to coming up with craft ideas for Autumn! Pretty soon, we’ll be winterizing our backyard pond diy and our small water feature in the front! But not before we take a moment to breath in the crisp Fall air and feel the sunshine on our face as we enjoy the Fall foliage. The changing of the leaves is always a spectacle to behold here in Canada (as is the changing colours of the acorns which you can craft for Fall further ahead)!

How fast the summer flies! But now it’s time for some Autumn crafts and DIYs!

DIY Fall Crafts

Let’s start with a few easy diy fall crafts, like acorn craft!

1. Acorn Decor

Our little secret for finding the best acorns is to stroll our neighbourhood and gather them right off the trees! Before the squirrels squirrel them away, and before they even hit the ground! Acorns in a bag are the first of several Craft Ideas for Autumn

With our instructions on how to treat and paint acorns, it’s an easy Fall craft anyone can do! But if you don’t have a vintage gumball machine to upcycle, display them in a lovely decorative bowl.

Acorns are so iconic so make the list of our Craft Ideas for Autumn. These colourful painted acorns are shown in an upcycled gumball machine!

2. Vintage Stamp Holder

Here is a cool way to display that one last summer bloom before all your flowers wilt away. Our sweet neighbour was so kind to bring by this Dalia from her garden for us to enjoy! But I think we’ll let he keep the earwig that hitchhiked on it. Click here for our vintage stamp holder upcycle.

3. DIY Pincushion

Not into the traditional orange and black for Halloween? We have a technique on how to make your own mud cloth fabric! You’ll find the fulll tutorial and video for this DIY pincushion here. It does double duty in the craft room as a pin cushion or on display as classy halloween decor.

4. Milk Can Decor

Outdoor Fall decorating is a great way to ease into cooler weather. Fall Mums will be available soon and I can’t think of a better way to display them than in a vintage milk can! We’ll show you all the tips and tricks for stencilling on an uneven surface.

5. Maple Leaf Drink Station

There’s nothing more iconic than the changing of the leaves in all their Autumn colour glory! This drink station, sporting a maple leaf, is a handy addition to your Thanksgiving gathering to keep all your drinks cold!

6. Hot Cocoa Bar Sign

As the morning air turns chilly, there’s nothing better than a hot steamy cup of cocoa! Learn how to upcycle a letter ‘I’ to make this hot cocoa bar sign – complete with all the fixings!

If cocoa, isn’t your think, what about a stenciled pumpkin spice fall sign, from my good friend Donna at Funky Junk Interiors?

7. Crochet Pillow Cover

When Fall rolls around, it’s the time of year when I get back to crocheting! Right now I’m working on a crochet coral reef that will soon be on display at the Ontario Science Centre.

But nothing is cozier than snuggling under a warm blanket with a pillow sporting this diamond-bobbled crochet pillow cover.

We also have a tutorial on how to make a pillow insert with real feathers!  There’s nothing more luxurious than real feathers to rest your weary head on and take a well deserved afternoon catnap!

8. Fall Wedding Decor

Know anyone getting married this Fall? Hubs and I were married in October at a stately manor house. Surprisingly, we had the most glorious Indian Summer day!

9. Fall Home Tour

When you’re tired of making Fall crafts, make yourself a pumpkin latte or cup of hot chocolate. Toss in some mini marshmallows and a dollop of whipped cream for good measure. Then kick back to read our Fall home decor tour.

Truth be told, our house decor doesn’t change much from season to season, but we do pick a few spots in our home to decorate for Fall (obviously our kitchen isn’t one of them).

    • I’m still grasping onto the last few weeks of summer! Luckily I can pull from the archives lol but those acorns and the thought of hot cocoa are definitely swaying me lol!

  3. I love your painted acorns, Sara. That is a fun idea. I’m so looking forward to fall weather this year. It’s been nothing but hot, dry, smoky, smoggy and dreary. I’m ready for sweaters and rain. I hope you are doing well.
