Eyeglass Holder

If you’re always setting your eyeglasses down and then searching for them five minutes later, a crochet eyeglass holder is a simple solution you’ll actually use. This quick crochet project creates a soft, lightweight necklace that keeps your glasses close at hand.

When I craft, I find I have to remove my glasses to see up close – even though I have bifocals now! So this upcycled is perfect for everyday wear around the house or while crafting. It’s a great stash-busting project, works up fast, and even makes a thoughtful handmade gift.

Raid Your Blue Bin

Pull Tab Jewelry

You’ll need 5 pull tabs. Create a magic circle.

Crochet hook and magic ring in white yarn with 5 pull tabs beside it.

Single crochet 3 times into the tab.

3 single crochet stitches in first tab

Then attach another pull tab by single crocheting into it 3 times.

Continue in that manner until all 5 tabs are attached.

Attach New Colour

Now, using a contrasting colour, single crochet around each tab, place 2 sc in the bottom loop on each side and the rest around the top loop with 2 chains in between.

Adding blue yarn around the first exposed pull tab

Here’s how it looks after two ‘petals’.

Blue yarn crocheted around two of the tabs

And all five.Blue crochet around all 5 tabs with white in the middle

Change again to white. In a ch 2 space, 4 dc, ch 3, 4 dc. Sc . Repeat for the remaining 4 tabs.

Block Crochet Eyeglass Holder

But I’d like to embellish further with a contrasting colour to hide the pull tabs and outline the edges to finish them off. I also go ahead and spray the piece with some distilled water using a fine mist sprayer so I can pin it onto a piece of foam to block it.

In my sample piece, I contrasted using yellow yarn.

Yellow accents in the middle and around the edges of the crochet star

Add a jump ring so you can can put it onto a ball chain to wear as a necklace. You can either hook the tip of the temple through the miiddle…

… or hang them off the edge in between a space.
