Refinish a Coffee Table – Sewing Table Repurpose

This is the second time in a month I get to refinish a coffee table! Years ago on a trip to the States, Hubs and I picked up a cute little coffee table that was originally a vintage sewing table. We’ve done several vintage sewing machine table makeovers now and they always get me thinking creatively. Surprisingly, we’ve never come across such a short base before! Continue reading

Wooden Shelf Display – Add Legs to a Floating Shelf!

This wooden shelf display is a bit counterintuitive. Today I’m taking a floating wall shelf and repurposing it into a display platform base for our Hot Chocolate Station by adding legs. This is the second project in our 3 part series. I can’t wait for the final reveal!  Continue reading

Hot Chocolate Station – Hot Cocoa Tray

We may have a small kitchen, but that doesn’t mean we can’t squeeze in a hot chocolate station! So we’re on a mission to make a scaled-down version of a hot chocolate station, complete with the hot cocoa tray we’re about to show you! There’s nothing more comforting than a hot cup of cocoa on a cold blustery day! Continue reading

Tiered Plant Stand DIY (Indoor/Outdoor Raised Planter)

I wanted poinsettias for the winter season, and boy did I get them with this tiered plant stand DIY! Stencilled in a really cool houndstooth pattern, our planter table makes a beautiful indoor plant stand for multiple plants!

However, this raised planter can also go outdoors in the Spring! If you do use it outside, it would be best to keep this in a covered area unless you use a clear coat rated for outdoor use. An added bonus is that the whole thing rolls since it’s already on wheels!

Christmas Sleigh Decor – Point Blanket Inspired!

Some people dream of a white Christmas. That’s usually not a problem in Canada! However, I prefer a colourful one, Canadian style, with Christmas sleigh decor done up in Hudson’s Bay Point Blanket Stripes! Continue reading

Coffee Table Makeover – with Upcycled Flooring Top!

Our coffee table makeover starts with a base we found on garbage day. Unfortunately it’s missing the top and Hubs and I didn’t see eye to eye on how we should upcycle it. So he’s going to indulge my idea now and maybe I’ll indulge his idea one day ;).

The top comes courtesy of leftover scraps of wood flooring we kept after finishing our basement. You can read all about our engineered hardware flooring installation here if you’re curious to see where these scraps came from.

Office Chair DIY – Reupholster a Bentwood Swivel

This Office Chair DIY seemed to find me. Since I have plenty of leftover fabrics from other projects, that’s not a bad thing. I love to reupholster! Even so, for this project I’m taking a bit of a shortcut.

Thanks to everyone who entered our giveaway last month. Congratulations goes out to J. Kynerd. She is the winner of a Cutting Edge Stencil. I enjoyed bringing you our first giveaway and hope to have another one for you down the road!

Sand Candle – Carving Enchanted Candles

The sand candle you’re about to see was apparently all the rage in the 70’s but this DIY takes it a step further!

But first, guess who’s the newest member of the International Blogger Club? I’m proudly representing my Canadian heritage through craft as one of two Canadian makers in the group! This month’s challenge is “Sands of Time”. Don’t forget to check out what the other ladies from the IBC have done with their Sands of Time challenge at the end of this post! Continue reading

Outdoor Garden Decor – Stencil Art

Outdoor garden decor is the focus of our very first stencil project using Cutting Edge Stencils! Typically the kind of stencil we’re using would go on a wall. But we’re not typical.  I can’t wait for you to see our unique idea to turn a wall stencil into stencil art for the garden! But if you read to the very end, we have a giveaway so you can try it out stencilling tooContinue reading

Air Plant Holder DIY – Window Display

This air plant holder DIY is a solution to a very real problem if you like to grow plants but have limited space.

So how do you display air plants when space is an issue? Air plants don’t need just air, they also need a source of bright indirect sunlight too. That means they have to be within 3 feet of a window at most.  But that’s easier said than done in our house. You see, our house sits on a ‘zero lot line’. One side of our house has no windows at all, and the windows we DO have, don’t have enough floor space surrounding them to grow plants. Continue reading

Steering Wheel Cover DIY- How I Crushed Hubs’ Car

This steering wheel cover DIY is inspired by a true life story: the day I intentionally crush my husband’s car. If you’re wondering how I came to upcycle a steering wheel and mount it on my wall, it all started with a simple question ‘What’s on your bucket list?’ That’s how this whole story began.
